Waterfox Development

<< Prev 1 2 320 21 22 Next >>

Waterfox 28.0 is now available and this is a big release that has been in development for a long time. Performance gains are much higher and WF now comfortably competes with Google Chrome in JavaScript performance, with some huge gains in WebGL and HTML5 performance.

Features of the new release:

  • A complete, 100% ICC build! Yay! (As opposed to various VC and ICC build).
  • Profile-Guided optimisation is back, which brings nice performance improvements.
  • If you're running an Intel CPU, support for AVX2, SSE4.2, SSE4.1 and SSSE3 if your processor supports these instruction sets. AMD users, at the moment you only get up to SSE3 support
  • Using Mozilla's built in memory allocator as opposed to jemalloc, otherwise crashes occur.
  • Finally change the About dialogue to talk about Waterfox and to link to the Waterfox website (links still under construction)

You can find the Firefox 28.0 release notes here.

Post Comment

Waterfox 27.0.2 has been released as a fix to the website recognition bug. This should completely resolve any website errors. Please let me know immediately if this is not the case.

I will wait 24 hours and if all is well, seed the automatic update.

Some website still don't recognize Waterfox, but they'll still render correctly without issue!
